Music speaks to my soul in a way that mere words cannot . . . Through music the emotions of grief are shared. ~ Tanya Lord
A reader writes: Hi, Marty! I am a Music Therapist and I am providing music for a grief pet loss service next month. Do you know of any songs that might be of comfort to people mourning the death of their pet? Maybe you could ask others who are mourning the death of their pet. Thank You for any help you can offer!
My response: Here are some suggestions for music I think might be appropriate for those who are mourning the loss of a cherished companion animal (and certainly, if others reading this wish to add their own favorites, please feel free to do so in the Comments section, below).
Click on the titles to see and hear the lyrics for each:
All Love Can BeAnd I Will Always Love You
Goodnight My Angel
I'll Be Seeing You
My Heart Will Go On
Slumber My Darling
Somewhere Out There
The Rose
The Wind Beneath My Wings
Would You Know My Name
You Needed Me
I hope this helps, and I wish you all the best with your presentation.
Afterword: Thank You for the suggestions. I will be using "All Love Can Be" performed by Charlotte Church. That is such a powerful song. Also "Slumber My Darling" and "Somewhere Out There" ~ and I will play some peaceful piano music as well. Best wishes for your future.
